All your financial data stays on your device. Always.
We operate no servers and collect no personal information.
Your PIN is stored as a SHA-256 hash - never in plain text.
Budget Thing is a personal finance tracking app. Your financial data is stored entirely on your device. We do not operate servers, do not collect personal information, and do not transmit your financial data anywhere.
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
All app data is stored locally in an SQLite database and in Android's SharedPreferences on your device. This includes:
Your PIN, if set, is stored as a SHA-256 hash - the original PIN is never saved. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
The free version of Budget Thing shows banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. The premium version does not show ads.
Google AdMob may collect and process certain information to serve ads, including advertising identifiers and usage data. This data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
To limit ad personalization, adjust your device's ad settings at:
Android Settings โ Google โ Ads โ Delete advertising ID (Android 12+), or toggle "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on older versions.
Budget Thing also uses Google Play Billing to process premium purchases (monthly subscription and one-time lifetime purchase). Payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details.
If you enable notification reminders, the app schedules local Android notifications using Android's AlarmManager. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are not sent through any external service.
Budget Thing is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because all data is stored locally and we collect no personal information, no special measures beyond those described above are required.
Your data resides on your device and is protected by your device's own security (screen lock, encryption). We recommend enabling device encryption and using the app's PIN feature for additional protection. We have no access to your device or its data.
Because we do not collect or hold your data, there is no data held by us to access, correct, or delete. To remove all app data from your device, use the "Clear All Data" option in Settings, or uninstall the app.
For any data that Google AdMob may hold, please refer to Google's privacy controls.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
